Born 1959. Studied jazz drumming at the Rotterdam Conservatorium. Studied improvisation with Manfred Bleffert.
Out of many experiences with jazz, funk, latin and african music emerged an original, versatile and hard swinging jazzdrummer. As a sideman he performed with numerous great jazz musicians like Michiel Borstlap, Dale Barlow,   Rene v Helsdingen, Ferial Karamat-Ali, Leonardo Amuedo, Ed Verhoeff, Robert Rook and Ben vd Dungen. As a bandleader he performed and recorded with “Hoobah”, an acoustic project with originals and arrangements of early polyphonic music, featuring Dick De Graaf , Ilja Reijngoud and Tjitze Vogel. He is the steady ‘heartbeat’ in the house band of  the oldest jazz café in Amsterdam, “the Cotton Club”.
He toured Spain, Germany, Switzerland and Syria. Recordings with Robert Rook: “Dangerous Cats”(2006) and “Hymn for Fall”(2006), “Dangerous Cats 2, Live at Bimhuis” (2007), and the DVD “Live in Amsterdam” (2008).  Recording with “The Cotton Club All Stars”: “Amsterdam Jam” (2007)
