Dick is an artist with many faces: besides being a jazzdrummer he is also a music and play therapist, he gives courses and workshops about music, sound and movement. Further more he makes beautiful percussion instruments out of metal and wood. You can distinguish a clear line in all of these works, two themes that connect everything: improvisation and play.
Improvisation means: being creative in the moment. Once you have openened the source of improvisation  you can use it everywhere: whether you are playing in a jazzband, helping people to express themselves or working on matter in order to make it sound.
To play means: to let go, to grasp freedom, humor, doing something just for the sake of doing it, because you want to. Playing  is the very most human state of being…
